how can i rent an apartment if i have bad credit??

i have consolidated all my credit card bills and am paying a consumer credit counseling agency

  1. Normally the credit check is not to see how your credit is but to see if you have any old landlords trying to reclaim lost money from you.
  2. This is a difficult one in an age of mounting consumer debt. Probably the easiest way (if you can afford it) is to be honest with the letting agency and offer to pay six months or a year's rent in advance. I realise this is a considerable outlay, but it's a good way to establish trust and goodwell with the agency. Make sure you get a receipt and a contract that acknowledges that you've paid in advance.
  3. A lot of landlords don't pull a credit report...besides, a lot of people that rent have credit issues (that's why they rent)..NOT ALL RENTERS (before they start coming after me!)...you should be able to find a place...no worries.
  4. If you're looking for a place in a suburb north of Minneapolis and are willing to let me run a criminal backgroud check, I might rent you a room in my condo.
