Can Credit Reference Agencies supply personal expenditure information?
My organisation is interested in using a Credit Reference Agency to help us determine the correct course of action to take against those people that have not met their payment obligations. We would also benefit from information that would help us negotiate a more realistic repayment schedule (above the organisations minimum level) where a customer has a lot of arrears. If we could obtain information that shows us how much a customer spends and repays per month on credit cards, store cards, mobile phone bills etc we would be in a much stronger position in our negotiations. The credit reference agencies that I have dealt with so far only tell us if a customer is making payments or not. They do not say how much these payment are for.

- our business tried that but it doesn't work try telling the that if payment does not begin the debt will be passed over to a collection agency.
- no
- Yes they most certainly can indeed! if you pay a one off charge of £3 to Equifax, you will be able to see all the loans, HP etc you have against your name and property. You can also do it on-line. There's one i heard you can access straight away. It was advertised some time ago. Well i don't want to digress ...they do have the information, as they liaise with your bank. As my sister works for a bank, i have seen it and know it!
- Credit agencies cannot legally tell you any more than they already have. Your crossing over into civil rights... sorry but the only way that this can take place is with an attorney and with legal action which can be very costly.
- There is information on credit reports from a consumer perspective here: http://www.flmloans.co.uk/credit-file.php Check your own file with the 3 main agencies mentioned on the site, if you find that any of the agencies hold the info that you need they will be selling it.
