- Really? Try one of the other three...what kind of trouble..I am having trouble with a collection agency that is falsely saying...
- have you contacted experian.
- If you are talking about Experian as the credit reporting agency, then they have absolutely nothing to do with any trouble you are having. All they do is take information that other companies and agencies give them and record/report it. If something is incorrect in your credit report, then you can call them to have it corrected (informational things only - addresses, etc.), but if it's a debt that seems (or is) incorrect, you have to dispute it and allow them to go back to the original creditor of record and verify that it is valid. If they are saying that your dispute has been dismissed and the info will stay the same, then it means that the company provided adequate proof that the debt is indeed yours; credit reporting agencies don't make a judgement themselves as to the validity of the debt, only the validity of the proof of debt as it relates to you. When you are sure that a debt is not yours, but the reporting agency tells you that it is valid, then you must go back to the original creditor and ask for proof yourself or dispute it with them so that they can verify whether their proof is stronger that the debt is yours or your proof is stronger that it isn't. After the debt is satisfied or proven to be invalid, the original creditor must update the info at the credit reporting agency to correct any erroneous information. If this isn't done, you must continue contacting the creditor until they do it. The credit reporting agency does not have the power to change any reported information about a debt; they can only update what is already there based on new info from the original creditor.
