where can I find someone to back me on starting a new business ( small Loan under $10K)?

I am a woman wanting to start my own business. Have the knowledge, the market, the ability, the place I just need the money. I have bad credit thanks to my soon to be ex-husband, I just need someone willing to give me a chance. Where do I go? Any ideas or know how?

1. I know American Express has always helped everyday people start new businesses. I'm not sure whether or not that holds true with bad credit -- but worth checking out.
2. What about government grants? If this is your first time starting your own business, they usually can provide low interest loans or even straight grants. To research this more, I would go to a library or look on the Internet as government websites.
3. a bank/look online/ the paper/a small business consultant at a place like bank of america/ the goverment often gives loans to people in your situation/the library can also point u in the right direction
