Bad Credit Agency

Can a collections agency not report a three year old debt to the credit agencies?

This debit isn't on my credit report at all and it's three years old now, don't they have to report it?

1. It would have already been reported. Sorry. Edit : In the US for example there are basically three main credit reporting agencies. The big banks generally report bad debt to all three of the credit reporting agencies. Smaller companies, like a credit union or small scale operation will generally only report to the one agency. So have you checked all three reports? When going for a loan - the banks will check all three, knowing that smaller agencies may only report to one credit reporting agency.
