Are credit repair companies legit? I want to repair my credit(i'm 25) messed up pretty bad in high school.Help

If your financial situation is dire, then do not pay anything and wait 7 years from the credit offense for your credit to be clean
6. Some of them are but there is nothing they can do for you that you cannot do for yourself. The idea is this: you send a letter to each of the credit bureaus which show a negative item on their credit report claiming that the item is not yours. By law a credit reporting agency must investigate a dispute and verify the accuracy of the negative item. If it cannot do so within 30 days then the item must be removed. What you do is to send handwritten letters disputing every single negative item on your credit report claiming it does not belong to you, never had such an account, that sort of thing. Whether it is true or not is not a factor. Deny everything and the credit bureaus must investigate. Sooner or later someone will slip up and not do the verification in time, and the items will begin to come off your credit report. Allow at least 60 days before sending a second letter again disputing the same item. Order copies of your credit reports every 60 days to check the progress of the disputes and keep sending disputes uuntil the items come off. This is not a quick process, given the time required for the inverstigations, and may take two yerars or more. If you are persistent it will work. I know, I have done it. If you want a company to do this for you, one that I know is legitimate is called Lexington Law Firm, and you can do a search for it on the internet. They charge a monthly retainer fee and you can cancel out whenever you want. They get resuults.

8. okI know everybody thinks online services are scams, but im happy to say that im a success story. Im aware you can do everything yourself but its time consuming. Trust me ive tried and i did recieve results on my own, i was just way to busy to continue doing it myself.
