Would it be easier to repair my credit myself or go with one of those credit repair companies?

1. I asked this question at my bank, what is the best way to repair my credit. Here is what they said "Do it yourself!" "absolutely" reason: because the banks want to see that you did it yourself and did not use a credit repair company, it will show on your credit report. It shows to them more responsibility for your personal credit if you fix it yourself. Thats what they told me you can take it to the bank that this is the best advice.
2. You can do it yourself. Contact your creditors and express your willingness to pay off your debt with them. Work out a payment plan and get from them in written form that you are paid up to date. If there are finance and late fees try to negotiate those away. When a bill is satisfied then the creditor should notify the credit reporting agencies. Any arrangement that you make with your creditors should be in writing. Don't think that just because you have an oral agreement over the phone that the agreement will be honored. A lot of the credit repair companies are scams so you need to be very careful if you go with one of them.

4. Credit repair is a myth. Companies promote this myth so that they can charge you fees for nothing. There is no magic formula or trick. You just need to pay off your debts over time and over time your credit will improve.
5. Hi Super, some of the above answers are not exactly correct. First of all. Creditors IE banks and financial institutions can not tell if you repaired your credit yourself or someone else did it for you. Second of all credit repair done by a credit repair company or the person repairing their own company is not a myth. It is done all the time and it is just like cleaning anything else. Takes some hard work and know how but it can be done. Third of all i own a debt credit consultation business and do this every day and im quite successful at it. give me an email.
