Bad Credit Agency

Problem with letting agency?

I am in a situation where I found a property to rent with the same lettings agency I have been with for two years. The year prior, we were able to sign a simple form since all the referencing had been done and everything was checked. This time we found a property with 4 weeks to spare and put a holding fee down. We were told we did not need referencing. With 9 days to go the agency told us we did need referencing after all - so we sent off all our forms and called them daily to ensure it was being done. No one was calling us back. With 4 days to go, it turned out the reference admin person had left - thus they were starting all over. They said everything 'looked ok' - work references, credit checks, but they wanted some other internal paperwork. We have to leave out current property in 2 days. They say they might or might not be able to get us into the new place by then - thats no help as where do we put our belongings and ourselves whilst they mull over the application.Any advise?

1. Rent a storage unit........or.......maybe you can rent a u-haul for how ever long it takes and leave your stuff in it. Check with U-haul and see if they charge basically by miles traveled or more for days. Other than that, looks like it's a waiting game. Don't worry it will soon be over.
2. Agents can get a emergency reference through in 24hrs, if they are using a reputable referencing company. They have seriously let you down, ring then when they open, and every hour until they sort things out. It might be wise to contact your current landlord to see if there is a chance the flat is not renting immediatly, maybe you can stay on a few days.
