Can I get a student loan w/bad credit IF i have a cosigner?

I have i guess what you could consider bad credit or little credit..( i have one bad account on my credit in the amount of 300.)... and i have little income, but I have a friend that has great credit who is willing to cosign with me for a student loan. Could I still get the loan even if i have bad credit but his is good? or do i need to have good credit as well? Also, is the cosigner required to make a certain amount of money?

Also the cosigners debt to income ratio, so on and so forth. You would increase your chances greatly if you cleared up the bad debt first, then apply for a lone with your cosigner.
