Credit repair agency, Have you heard of this company???
Hello all, I am getting married next year and me and my soon to be wife are looking to purchase a home next year at the beginning of the year. My credit score is not good, around 529. I have had a couple of bad things on my credit, I have paid some and I have to finish paying the others off, like or 7 bad things total. My fiance had absoltly no credit at all, We will have about 10K for downpayment and all. But a freind of mine told me about Academy credit repair, I have disputed on my own but have no luck with it. I have disputed, provided copies of payoff and all that, never can get it fixed. Do you recomend this company? https://www.academycredit.com/credit_report_repair.cfm Thank you I have treid to repair my credit on my own, somethings they say are acurate and do not take them off. I have tried this time and time agian, just does not work for me

- I haven't heard of that one, but a good one to try is at www.debtresourceusa.com . I think they are associated with a law firm which helps disputing credit report errors, and they have a credit enhancement program that helps when people want to buy a house. Good luck!
- Here's the thing with credit repair companies. They can only repair negative stuff that isn't yours. If it is, then they can't help you. They can negotiate to lower interest with companies, but you can do that! It's really a rip off. I say, buy the house...you have some downpayment, most places will finance just about anything these days. When your credit is better you can refinance for a lower interest rate. In the meantime fix your credit and build your wife's by putting most things in her name and paying them on time. Payoff plan for your credit. First call the places to negotiate lower interest. Second, take each one of your debts and list them lowest payoff to highest. Do what you can to pay off Debt #1 as soon as possible. Take the amount you paid to debt #1 and pay it on debt #2 so if you used to pay #1 $50 and Debt #2 $50 then you will now pay them $100 till paid. Then so on and so on till they are all paid off, keep ONE card for emergencies and get rid of the rest while your credit is still low...or keep them with ZERO balance if you are strong enough not to use them again. Good luck!
- Anything they do to repair your credit you can do to, for free, do some research on repairing your credit yourself, you can start by reading this article it's pretty good, http://www.monitorbankrates.com/how-to-build-maintain-and-repair-your-credit
- Why pay someone to do something that you can do yourself? Order your credit reports from TransUnion, Experian and Equifax for free from the Federal Trade Commission's web site https://www.annualcreditreport.com then note any inaccurate information and follow the directions on each credit report on how to dispute an item. Credit reports are governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp
