Are credit repair companies worth it and if so which is best?

- you can do it yourself read thru creditinfocenter carefully and never make a verbal agreement
- If you cannot afford your payments with how they are right now, I would suggest for you to call your creditors and ask what they can do for you. If they don't want to budge, then don't use a so-called credit repair company, or even other companies like a debt settlement company; you should use a credit counseling service. A counseling service will help you find a way to pay your debt back. Some want a montly fee, which doesn't make them any less legitimate, and others don't. I decided to go with CareOne when I had $10,000 in credit card debt and, although I could make my monthly payments, it was the minimum and I felt like I wasn't getting any ahead. Bottom line is don't trust any company who makes promises, such as they promise to repair your credit score.
