- Don't take short cuts to "fixing" your credit. Many times companies will work with you if they know you want to work with them. Credit Repair Companies often times try to bully credit bureaus into taking information off your report but you will find the information makes it way back on to your report eventually - especially if the information is accurate. Debt Relief companies will try to consolidate your debt to lower payments but that will effect your credit possibly hindering you from borrowing for the home and car you want. Make sure you are on a budget - try to increase your income - you may have to get a second job - deliver pizza's for a year - to get things under control. Your hard work right now, however, will pay off in the future for you and your wife. Best of luck! www.fil-am-today.com
- Do you have a lot of collections or open cards with late payments? The open credit cards should be negotiated to a lower interest rate to help you bring the balances down. It would also help to lower your balance-to-limit-ratios by transferring the total debts amongst a few credit cards. The further the balances from the limits on your credit cards, the better the credit score. The collections should be deleted from the credit report by disputing with the bureaus as per "The Fair Credit Reporting Act"
- Avoid credit repair agencies that charge a fee to improve your FICO score by removing negative, but accurate, information from your credit reports. No one can force credit reporting agencies or lenders to remove accurate information from a credit report. Credit repair companies often take your money without delivering what they promise, or provide only temporary improvements of your score, sometimes by removing accurate information that will reappear later. Here is a link to FTC recognized credit counselors. They can help you with a program to pay down the debts and build your credit score. http://www.usdoj.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa/ccde/cc_approved.htm Govt approved credit counseling agencies. Hope this answers your question.
- I can help you! I work for Nationwide Credit. We are also a law firm as well. We have been in business for 19 years and members of the Better Business Bureau for 7 years with NO complaints. We're also registered with the Secretary of State and ALL of our contracts are in compliance with the attorney general. Let me know if you need any help. We have amazing success rates. By the way, don't listen to these people who say bad things against companies like mine. There have certainly been credit repair companies that have scammed people. They give the good guys a bad rep. We're not all like that. You can look into our program and we are totally supported by the BAR as well.
