Got in car accident, no insurance. Bill for over 5,000 from credit agency. Need advice quick!?
This is my second notice from this credit collection agency and it is telling me that if the balance isn't paid in full they will CAN fight to take my husband's driver's license. I talked to an agent on the phone and she said with a down-payment she could do a payment plan for $81/m for 5 years. My finances are tight, why is it over 5,000 that I owe and not just the deductible that needs to be refunded. What if someone can't afford such high payments?? FOUR: Oh stfu, please. Who said the accident was our party's fault anyway? And people die in car accidents everyday WITH insurance so where is your sense in saying what you just said you ignorant b*stard. MrJones: And you too. What is this? Everyone has a stick stuck up their ass day? If you don't care about my situation then why did you answer?? INFINIT: Thank you for your courteous answer. That was more along the lines of what I was thinking. I've had past medical bills that I had to make super low payments on because I couldn't afford in full and I sometimes paid as low as 33 cent to the dollar! We already went to court and paid the fines for no insurance and what not, the judge said nothing about taking his license away. In fact right after he plead guilty...the judge said 'good, if you would have plead not guilty I would of made you pay a 300/m fine for no insurance' Instead my husband got probation and we purchased a year of insurance. I've been hit by cars that have had no insurance and in no way did I treat them as nasty as some of these answerers have talked to me. I even got hit by a guy that THOUGHT his insurance was still valid but it had expired the day before and his wife had gotten the date mixed up. They are unfortunate people out there and for someone to tell me that having insurance and hitting someone and killing them is better than not having insurance and hitting and killing them is plain out retarded. How about safe driving??? ;/ And I'm sorry but no I will not except people getting upset about my situation because I haven't even put all the details! So who are these people to judge? My question had nothing to do with the accident. JUST THE CREDIT AGENCY---not everyone's two cents! But thank you for your advice.

- hey,get real for gods sake, you or your husband drove with no insurance and wrecked, now pay the price and quit complaining. If you cant afford insurance, then you shouldnt own a car.be happy someone didnt die, aside from losing your license, youd be going to jail.dont do the crime if you cant do the time. you ignorant fool,,if you dont have insurance and you wreck, regardless of whos fault it was, your screwed, otherwise you wouldnt be here looking for ways to get out of it,and if you cant handle the answers people are giving you, dont ask the question,.Your responses only proves that that you are guilty.people like you are the reason that insurance rates skyrocket for those of us who abide by the laws, and we end up paying for your screw ups,get a life. And the reason you are being charged the full 5 grand and not just the deductible is because you dont have any insurance to begin with, you dont get the benefit of insurance if you dont carry it,wake up!It simply amazes me how people can afford internet access but not the things you really need in life, some people need to get their priorities in order i guess.
- get that in writing !!! www.creditinfocenter.com buddhibbs.com If the Collection Agency PURCHASED the debt and the Original Creditor charged it off. Ask them to prove you owe THEM the money.
- i have no sympathy for anyone who drives without insurance..you took the risk, you lost, now pay up, take a second job, do whatever you have to and be glad you didn't really hurt anybody or you would be screwed for life...and then get some insurance and do the rest of the world a favor
- you should of had at least basic car insuarance not only is that wrong it is illegal quit complaining if i was the case manager i would`ve had your husband arrested for driving with nocar insuarance
- You do not say what the bill is for. If it is not related to the ticket for no insurance, the collection agency has no authority to take your husband's driver's license (they lie a lot). Do not talk with them over the phone. Instead, next time they call tell them not to call you any more. Instead they have five days (by law) to send you a letter explaining the debt and why they are calling you. After you receive their letter, fire back with a "debt validation" letter. They have to prove that they own the debt, and that they have a legal right to collect from you. Good Luck.
- First off, understand that many people are not going to be sympathetic to you for obvious reasons, so don't waste your time responding to that. Second, I would recommend you take their payment plan. You don't have much of a choice. If not the plan, put it on a card and then pay off your card. Don't let it stay with the agency for too long!
