I would like to thank you all for your input but in reading the answers I believe that I needed to revise what I said. Trans Union gave my credit report to a collection agency but I was not the person they were looking for. The other persons name is John Washington my name is johnny a Washington. The only thing similiar about our address is Brooklyn,NY that's it. If you pull your credit file it tells you the name of every company that got your file whether promotion or other. It also tells you the information that the person requesting your file sent ie your name address phone number. The agent at Transunion didn't match anything not even the name. I have never applied for credit and used John because that's not my name. The FCRA states "A consumer report agency may provide information about you ONLY to people with a valid need" The agency gave the right information. Trans Union just gave the first John Washington they saw. Unfortunatly my name is Johnny. Do I have a case against them?
