Bad Credit Agency

Can anyone recommend a credible Credit Counseling Agency or at least stear me away from the bad ones?

1. I used care one credit and paid off $18000 of debt, I had little problems with them. Avoid any credit counseling that says they will reduce your debt significantly. My friend has lost almost $12000 paying a fake lawyer to "pay" her debts. Also do a google search and read as much as you can about who you choose before you sign up with them.
2. I believe most if not all of them are out to take more of your money. A trusted friend will do just as well and should be free
3. Greenpath Debt Solutions is a good company. They have lots of local offices so there is a good chance there is one near you so you can deal with someone face to face if you choose. No matter which company you choose be sure they are a non-profit. Also be sure to steer clear of debt settlement companies. Debt settlement companies are not the same as credit counseling agencies and they will ruin your credit.
