Credit repair letter?

I would like a template for the letter to send to the credit bureau to ask to remove a negative account which is over 7 years old?

  1. If the credit bureau is still reporting the negative account, they will not remove it unless they get word from the business who reported it in the first place. My advice is to contact the company which reported it, work it out with them, then they can notify the credit bureau to remove the negative report. Also, most credit bureaus have an online form to dispute a negative report...try that too.
  2. All you need to do is write a letter that says. After looking at my report I noticed that this account<insert name of lender and Acct #> is obsolete, please delete it from my report. Please send me a copy of my updated report once this is completed. Thanks! Your name Your Address Your SSN Your DOB You may also want to enclose a copy of your Driver's license and a current utility bill in your name for your current address to verify your identity it just speeds things up b/c they don't have to ask for it.
  3. You should not rely on a form letter for this. There is not a magic one size fits all for this. A letter disputing the information you want to remove should come from you because it will have more impact this way! Form templates get thrown in the trash! I know this from experience. Look, you can dispute and challenge negative items in your report that are Unverifiable, Inaccurate, Incorrect and Misleading! If you can find reasons to do so with in these guidlines then by all means do so! I go into detail on this in my website because this can be too long to post here, but after ID theft and Bankruptcy, this is something I know about! This is NOT a slam, but your looking for a quick fix and there isn't going to be one, trust me on this, I've been there! I had 10 negative items in my report and I had to keep plugging away at it to get them removed and I was successful with 8! The other two were amendable and we agreed that the reasion for the unpaid amount was related to a defective merchandise issue which had never benn resolved to either party's satisfaction. this made my score come up by 18 points! But it did take a year of constant hammering at the problem before most of my creditors decided for the amount owed and the age of the debt, it was not worth pursuing. In other words, I won by default! I wore them down! Good luck! If you need help look to my website and get creative. The most interesting category to legally challenge this item will be Misleading and I go into detail about how to use these terms to help you.
