Bad Credit Agency

What is Delaware's statue of reporting negative credit (time).?

Im trying to buy a house; im at 600 and climbing but i want to remove all negative remarks from the year 2002 which is the bulk of my bad history. i have everyting paid, no lates in 2 yrs. i was considering a credit repair agencies but i dont want to waste money. If i write all three reporting agenciences and attach proof of all items being paid in full will they delete it from my credit file and does the state (delaware) statue supercede? meaning for example if delaware states 3 yrs for negative items to be reported then will they (negative items) be removed? Can some answer this for me?

  1. Delaware follows the same reporting laws as the feds....7 years, beginning from the date of the delinquency. Therefore you debts are going to stay until 2009. Note that there are only 2 ways you can get a negative item deleted from your credit history (if it's accurate) 1) The creditor must delete it. 2) The creditor fails to respond to a dispute investigation. So here is your problem. You can write to the credit bureau, but they can not remove it. Even though you paid it, they can't do anything but investigate it with the creditor. The best that could happen is they will show the debt is paid, but it will still show it was in collections and had late payments. You only other option is to contact the creditor and politely ask them to delete the item. That's not likely to happen. Why should they? You didn't pay your bill and they had to chase you down for it. There is no incentive for them to help you out now. What you should have done is made the creditor agree, in writing, to delete this once you finished paying off your debt. Now you are broke, and you still have bad credit. If you want to risk going to a credit repair place, go for it. But they will only do what you can easily do yourself, and they will get the same results. Try getting them to sign a contract to not take any of your money unless they clean your credit up. Wish I had a better answer for you. I've posted this response dozens of times trying to warn people before paying off delinquent debts. Wish I had caught up with you months ago. ;)
