Starting a not for profit?
Is there anyone out there that has ever done this? I could use some giudance. Where do I start? I have an idea and have written it down and all that but I am clueless on what to do next? Where do I get money to start it? (my credit sux and family is out of the question) Is it even possiable to get money/ credit to start it if i have sh*t credit? what kind of forms do i need? where do i get them? If you start a nonprofit how do you live while commiting your self to it? (pay rent eat ect) if you do get it started how do you make it know to other agencies that could link consumers to you? anyone know where i could get answers to these questions that are easy to understand, I have done searches on yahoo and google but I dont understand half of what those websites say and the ones it does seem i would be able to understand want money and I dont have any. thanks in advance for any advice.

- You can only start it if you are not going to rely on the income for survival.You must go to the local council,put all aspects infront of them and let them decide if it will be viable
- maybe you should instead make your idea a non governmental organization. A lot of ngo's do charitable work and work on the premise balancing the books such that they don't make any profit, but at the same time the executive director and other employees can still attain an appropriate salary within the pay structure of the organization. You could still register as tax deductable for the sake of encouraging donors I believe, but am no expert in this area. I'm starting my own ngo in kenya, but if I have to I will fund it all from my own savings to get it up and running if need be, so we are in substantially different boats by the sound of things.
