Bad Credit Agency

Can a Collection agency check your credit report excessively?

I am working on my credit, and a credit collection agency has been checking all three of my credit reports excessively, which has negative impact on my credit score?? Is there a way to make them stop checking excessively?

  1. No, they can check once a day if they want....
  2. What is excessively? How often exactly have they check it? Of course it has a negative impact to your credit...there are line inquiries from collection agencies and collection accounts on your credit report. Since you actually have accounts in collections, my question to you is...are you really concerned about your credit or are you looking for something to pin on the bill collector in an attempt to either stall or find a way out? They check all three every six months?? That is not considered to be excessive in legal terms. Additionally, be sure that the same agency does not have more than one of your accounts. If they do than they may have been assigned to different collectors and each of them do their own thing. If you have any more questions email me smile4cobra@yahoo.com
