Bad Credit Agency

How can I find out which company uses which credit agency?

I want to apply for a t-mobile contract phone and I also wanted to apply for a credit card but I wanted to know if it is possible to find out which companies (i.e. department stores like debenham etc and retail stores like topshop, la senza etc etc) use which credit agencies. I was told it is possible but I was looking for a quicker way than approaching each company individually?????????

  1. They probably use all the big ones.
  2. Any company that offers credit/loans/high purchase or mobile phone contracts will use a credit reference agency - they would be mad not to. To find out which ones, go onto the company's webiste and somewhere in small print you should be able to find out which agencies they use.
  3. There are only three major nationwide agencies and anyone I've dealt with recently has pulled reports from all of them. When I worked on the other side of credit, twenty years ago, there were five major bureaus and some minor ones and I had to be careful about which ones I used because their coverage varied regionally, but that isn't true anymore.
  4. all companies offering or lending you a facility will run a credit search but some are more in depth than others and some companies are more relaxed in how tidy your credit search has to be. try www.mobilephonebazaar.co.uk their pass rate for credit searches is over 90% you gotta have a very very dire seriously bad credit score for them to say no.
  5. Try this first: The first thing you will need to do is call the three major credit reporting agencies and request a free copy of your credit report. www.equifax.com www.experian.com www.transunion.com Then once you get those in the mail (7-10 days) there will be a dispute form attached to the reports. Fill those out for every negative account on your report regardless. Fax, mail go online whatever it takes to get those submitted as quickly as possible. Then those companies must answer your dispute within 30 days or it is removed from your credit report completely. So that will eliminate some things, hopefully. Then make sure you pay all your revolving accounts to below 50% of your credit limits. Make sure that you make all your payments no more than 20 days from the date it is due. Good Luck!
  6. This is a tough question. Often the person actually accepting the credit application doesn't know themselves. Many companies may use more than one agency. It never hurts to ask, however, I have found that you normally get few good answers to your question. GOOD LUCK
