Credit repair Companies?

What can I do to repair my credit just like a credit repair company would do? I would like to know how to take negatives off of my account etc. What are the steps? I'm interested in repairing my debt muself.

  2. the ONLY way you or anyone else can repair credit is removing INCORRECT items and you have to prove that by your statements and receipts and then the credit bureau will bring your complaint to the merchant and either it will be corrected or not. It very well may be erased for a couple of months and then will re-appear at a later date if the merchant doesn't agree with you. Other than that, pay timely (which the credit card companies and utilities will still screw you no matter what, so you should save a copy of your bank statement which shows the date your checks were written). I would not suggest a credit repair company because they charge you a fee for doing what you yourself could do for free, AND when they repair your cards they halt your accounts by closing them for you...and that's not good either. The only good of that is that they cut off some of the interest, but then you no longer have a credit account and it's difficult to get another credit card then. The steps are to pay your bills timely when they are due and even pay more if you can, and don't buy anything anymore...and eventually it will all get cleared up.
  3. anything they do you can do also. write letters to the companies and ask them to remove the accounts that are over 7 years old. (7 years from date of last activity-not 7 years sinced opened) they have to reply within a certain amount of days. no reply and they lose. you can also go to freecreditreport.com pay the fee to get your reports with scores. or go to annualcreditreport.com (no charge-everyone is entitled once per year for free report ) there is an option to dispute items. use that option to request removal. its what i did when i saw a negative account on my husbands report that was not his but his x wifes. he was not on the account when she opened it. it was immediately removed. no hassles at all. also any newer accounts can be negotiated to a lesser amount. do that to pay them off faster.

  6. I have been to "many" different credit repair sites on the web. Some were pretty good and some were pretty bad. I refuse to use a website<!--that requires a fee to get their credit repair info when there is great free sites on the web.. I'm listing the best site that I've ever been to. http://badcredits.awardspace.com/repaircredit.htm It is a "free" do it yourself credit repair site. I have learned so much by reading and asking questions on that site. And, I have seen "significant" improvement on my credit reports after learning-->my rights and using them.Don't pay for information that you can find for free.
