Bad Credit Agency

Bad Credit?

I made so stupid credit decisions in the past. Now my credit score is suffering. I even paid somethings that were on it off and it is still there. How can I remove something off of my report after I already paid it off? How can I rebuild my credit without a credit card? and Is it true that after something is on your report for 7 years it automatically goes away?

  1. Get a copy of your credit reports (there are 3 major companies, get one from each) Write a letter to the credit bureau disputing the particular items. If the credit bureau cannot determine absolutely that the info belongs there, they will delete the information. Keep writing letters until all the stuff is gone.
  2. First I recommend that you obtain a copy of your credit report from annualcreditreport.com. YOu can obtain a copy of your credit from each of the 3 bureaus one time per year at this site. After you have obtained your credit report you can do an online dispute with anything that is not reporting properly to your credit. Dispute the items that you have paid off. Give details and you may even want to mail in proof to the collection agencies via certified mail w/ signature request to guarantee these items are cleared up. This will not remove the items from your report but show them as paid with a 0 balance. You can rebuild your credit with other types of credit, personal loan, mortgage, auto loans, etc... However, a credit card or two are going to help rebuild your credit and increase your scores much quicker than these other types of credit. Credit cards show how you can manage credit. Obtain the cards and only use them 1-2 times every 6 months, just to report a history. A derogatory item that has been on your report for 7 years from the date of last activity you had on your account can normally be removed from your report. However, different states have different statutes about this and for different items that report to your credit so some things may stay on for longer and some for shorter. You need to request with the credit burueau that they be removed after this time has passed. Check out the blog below for more information on credit, credit scoring and credit tips.
  3. Once the item is paid it comes off after 7 years...but just having paid them off if you give yourself 6 months your score should jump up.
