Too much credit debt ... Should I use a credit repair service? My CC debt is very high (>$30K), and the payments are getting too high. I have a great credit rating, but I can't keep up with high payments for the next 20 yrs. Should I use a credit repair service to negotiate the debt down, and make payments to them? If I do, they say I could be debt free in 36 to 48 months. What are the risks involved other than a bad credit rating for 3 yrs?

Put credit repair scams in one sentence.? Put this into one sentence. Credit Repair Scams Credit repair scams offer to erase accurate negative information from your credit file so you can qualify for a credit card, auto loan, home mortgage, or a job. The scam: The scam artists who promote these services can't deliver. Only time, a deliberate effort, and a personal debt repayment plan will improve your credit. The companies that advertise credit repair services appeal to consumers with poor credit histories. Not only can't they provide you with a clean credit record, but they also may be encouraging you to violate federal law. If you follow their advice by lying on a loan or credit application, misrepresenting your Social Security number, or getting an Employer Identification Number from the Internal Revenue Service under false pretenses, you will be committing fraud.

What are the best ways to repair a poor credit rating? I'm looking to repair my poor credit rating. I owe 10k+ to various creditors. I'm married, we both have a decent paying jobs. My spouse has credit problems as well. Here are my concerns: 1. Are there any immediate steps that I should take to get started? 2. What is considered a "good" score to have when buying a house? 3. What short term steps (6 months to 1 year period) can I take to bring my rating up to a "moderate" level? 4. What long-term steps can I take to make for the future so that I do not fall back to where I am now? 5. I know that some credit counselling services are predatory in nature, and actually put people into more trouble than they had to begin with. Are there any reputable credit counselling services out there (preferably non-profit)?

How can I promote my new business without costing me an arm and a leg? I have a new credit repair service. I know some credit repair services have a reputation of ripping people off, and thatâ??s making a little difficult for the ones like me that are running a legitimate service. I donâ??t charge for services until I do the work! Anyway I need an avenue for advertising that will produce results and not break me. If you have any suggestion, please let me know.
Should I officially start a credit repair organization? I have been assisting several individuals with improving their credit. I know most companies are rip offs. However, unlike someone who takes your money and runs off doing nothing. I sit down and map out how to approach removing the credit issues. What I explain is anyone of course can provide these services. I am familiar with the FCRA, FDCPA, Statue Of Limitation Laws, etc. Last year in helping people I help 20 people acheive their goals. I feel I have something legitmite to offer people. I guess my question is I've checked with my state (MD) and I found there were no applicable licence for my business type. I only would have to be licenced and bonded if I act as one of these debt consolidation which I choose not to be. However, in networking I spoke to someone who advised my state is leary of that term....Does anyone know for sure if this is legal?
Companies that claim to repair your credit for a fixed fee???? I need a contract for credit repair? I am a Mortgage broker and i deal with alot of people with bad credit , i would like a contact that i can have my customers sign in order for me to help them establis credit. I am not going to charge them anything upfront , i just want them to be happy with my service and use me as there broker to buy a house , refinance there house or hopefully be so impressed that they are willing to me send me referral business. I help all of my clients as far as giving them advice on what to do. What i am referring to is actually helping them fix there credit by disputing items wrongfully charged to them or mistakes on there credit reports, now this could very well take months which i do not mind doing to help people out and then hopefully they wil buy there house through me for helping them.
Has anyone seen this?It looks legit.I just received it today. It's not a 419 scam? NOTICE FROM FEDERAL COURT. PLEASE READ. You may be eligible to receive a benefit from a class-action settlement if you purchased and paid for a credit score or credit monitoring from ConsumerInfo.com or an Experian Entity between June 17, 1998 and December 27, 2006. A federal court has directed that this notice be sent to inform you of a proposed class-action settlement. Records show that you entered into an agreement over the Internet with ConsumerInfo.com or an Experian Entity to purchase any Credit Check or Credit Check Monitoring (which were formerly known as CreditCheck® Monitoring Service), Credit Manager (including Yahoo! Credit Manager), Triple Alert, or Triple Advantage credit-monitoring product, or you paid for a credit score sold on a website that also sold one of these credit-monitoring products, between June 17, 1998 and December 27, 2006. If so, you may be eligible to receive a benefit under the proposed settlement. The settlement will resolve a lawsuit over whether Defendants violated the federal Credit Repair Organizations Act or are liable for claims where the stated basis is about improvement of a consumer's credit record, history, or rating. Under the settlement, Defendants deny that they are liable, but have agreed not to make certain statements on particular websites and to provide all Settlement Class Members with the opportunity to obtain their choice of a settlement benefit: either (i) a credit score or (ii) 60 days of credit monitoring, as described below and on the settlement website. To see if you are a Class Member and to obtain full notice of the proposed Settlement, the required procedures, the Effective Date, the deadlines, your obligations, and your options, you must visit www.browningsettlement.com. This email is only a brief summary of the full notice that is posted on the website. If you are an eligible Settlement Class Member, you have rights, obligations, and options under the proposed settlement. You have until May 15, 2007 to make your decision. Your legal rights are affected whether you act or not. 1. Submit A Registration Form Online Or By Mail This is the only way to get a settlement benefit of either a credit score or 60 days of credit monitoring. You will choose your benefit, and you must keep all of your registration information updated. If you choose credit monitoring, and you don't cancel your credit-monitoring membership after using your code to obtain the credit monitoring benefit but prior to the expiration of the 60 day, settlement benefit period, you will be billed at the then-applicable rate, which is currently $9.95, for each month that you continue your membership. Beginning on the Effective Date of the settlement, you will be able to register online or by mail. If you register online, your registration must be completed no later than sixty (60) days after the Effective Date, and submitted online by midnight Pacific Time. If you register by mail, your registration must be mailed and postmarked on or before sixty (60) days after the Effective Date. For more information on these deadlines, the Effective Date of the settlement, the registration procedures, and the settlement benefit, you must visit www.browningsettlement.com. Do not contact the Court. 2. Exclude Yourself This is the only option that allows you to ever be part of any other lawsuit about the claims in this case. Your request to speak at the hearing must be mailed and postmarked on or before May 15, 2007. The final fairness hearing is set for July 31, 2007, at which time the Court will consider whether to finally approve the settlement and a request by the lawyers representing all Class Members for no more than $2,550,000 in attorney's fees and costs. 5. Do Nothing You will automatically be included in the Settlement Class and give up your right to be part of any other lawsuit about the claims in this case, but you will not be eligible to receive a settlement benefit unless you submit a registration form. To contact us, please access the official settlement website at www.browningsettlement.com. You can't tell me that it's a scam without justifying your answer. It's not asking me for any personal information at all! Please keep that in mind while answering. I was already enrolled in this service and reported them to the Federal Trade Commission three times.Does that help? This line makes the whole thing seem more legit. 2. Exclude Yourself This is the only option that allows you to ever be part of any other lawsuit about the claims in this case. You will not be eligible for a settlement benefit.
